The owner/operators of Belize Tour and Destination Services are Phil Westman and Debra Lewis.  We first came to live and work in Belize in 1991 as volunteers, supported by the Canadian overseas cooperation agency CUSO.  It wasn't long before we realized that we wanted to make a long-term commitment to the development of the country. After many years working with local organizations in the areas of community development, popular education, women's development, and advocacy, we have created this service in order to share our knowledge and love of Belize.

We believe in sustainable, locally owned and controlled tourism that minimizes negative impacts and benefits marginalized people.  For our tours, we use small, local providers of services as much as possible.  In addition, we take care to consult with communities and our NGO colleagues to ensure all activities are conducted with sensitivity to local conditions.
